No worries, thought that'd be the case. The gang's all leaving for NF on the morning of Sat 18 Feb. But an evening of boardgaming, or possibly even Warhammer/40k, sounds good. How about the evening of Fri 17 Feb? Who's free and keen to come along?

We'll be driving up on the 11th and settling in/visiting hospital on the 12th. If this time is too close to NF then I happy for a night of boardgaming rather than a 16hr Apocalypse marathon.

I probably should have swapped the block of TG for a block of 50 skeleton warriors. Would have actually been cheaper and I could have used something else as a special choice.

I thought of pointing my knights on the left flank towards the dwarfs after they beat Sam's knights but I'm pretty sure they were out of charge range. From memory I also failed my test to restrain and had to overrun towards the war machines. Even if we somehow killed those dwarfs we had nothing left to take the tower. We should have swapped the cowardly lions and undead archers & chariots for more infantry blocks.

I think it was the dwarves that really did us in: we had nothing that could really counter them. We needed knights or something set up to hold back the dwarves, or they could easily have won this thing single-handed.

It was a fun game and nice write up. The undead were lead just fine. Chariots die if they get charged so milling around until we could set up a charge with them was the right thing to do. I think where the Elves, Holy Bretonnians and Undead lost it was when we were picking the armies. We had too many units for the flank fights - we were winning on both flanks. What we needed was some serious infantry to storm the tower. We had 10 swordmasters and Ash's block of 20. They had the 20 in the tower and two ~40 strong units led by characters. Their army was focused on the prize, ours was not.

Undead, especially Tomb Kings, are terrible at extended fights. You need to pick and choose your combats carefully otherwise you crumble into oblivion.

Syfro, I was needing to build a house there anyway as a spawn point for breaking shadow orbs and fighting the eater of worlds.
