Nothing Wins the Justice

The new Magic core set is being released, exactly one week before the Australian National Championships.. this means I need new cards, and the cards don't go on sale in stores until the day I'm supposed to start playing at nationals..

With this in mind, I'm inviting you all to come play at the prerelease event in the CBD, where you will all have fun and beat up people in children's card games, and I will score lots of cards (hopefully).

• Location: Sydney CBD: Grace Hotel (York St)

As far as I can afford, I will be paying for you guys to play. It's $35 each, you get 6 boosters to build your sealed deck with. 1 booster prize for turning up (first timers) and 4 boosters for competing in the tournament (casual flight prizes are good! :D ) This totals 11 boosters worth of cards for $35, which is a good deal for me to buy off you, or you can pay for yourself and keep them (and hopefully lend me any cards I need ^^)

It'll be a good day out, there are 2 times to choose from (or both, if you like it that much!) and the new set promises to be entertaining and fun, and a little easier to play than original magic (they simplifying some rules).

Regarding The RANLAN below, I hope some of you would like to come play cards anyway, then head to the LAN after.. the 9:30am tournament finishes around 3:30-4pm, so it's still goodly amounts of time to head up to the LAN afterwards.

Syfro: I actually had heaps of fun with the Nerdfest Magic Draft, so I think I'll take you up on this offer, Crouch the man!

Is the plan to rendezvous somewhere beforehand, or just show up there? Do we need to sign up or can we just stroll on in? Details, man! Details!

Ranneko: Yeah, unfortunately there isn't anything we can do regarding this event clash. If you are going to go cards and then go LAN, please still let me know so I can ensure that you still have table space.

RJorb: Count me in also, cK. I'm more than happy for you to buy the cards off me afterwards, also.

Regarding the LAN, I'm planning on heading home after Magic to pick up my PC, then heading to Ran's place. This will depend, of course, on how exhausted I am from being thrashed all day at cards by ten-year olds.

So we need to be at the club by 9:30, so if we meet at Town Hall steps at 9:00am, we'll have time for some breakfast or whatever (macdonalds opposite george st, or the Oportos on the street behind the venue.

My flatmate has also offered to pay for people's entry on the condition of getting your cards, so we should be able to cover everyone if you want to rock up for some free gaming and entertainment.

cK: Also, this is a proper DCI tournament, so if you have a DCI number (usually on a cardboard card, slightly smaller than a credit card) around, bring it. if not, and you KNOW you used to have one, they should be able to search you.. otherwise it's free to sign up.

Lunzo: I'd be in for this, especially if my participation is being bankrolled by cK.

What time does the midday flight finish cK? One suggestion we had for lanning and carding was to dump stuff at Ranneko's then head in to the city. I guess we might still be able to make the 9:30 start but it seems less likely.

Elo: Yeah I'll be in for this too. Especially since its not being funded by me!

Lets work out what flight we're going to!

RJorb: I like what Lunzo is saying. Dropping our PCs off at Ran's in the morning, and heading to the Midday flight sounds best to me.

Ranneko: Seems like a reasonable plan, providing me with expected time of arrival in the morning would be appreciated. You could park at Waverton or Wolltstonecraft station and grab a train into the city to avoid parking issues.

RJorb: So, there's been a change of plans re both the cards and the RanLAN.

The latest plan is to not take our PCs to the RanLAN, and so not need to drop anything off in the morning. We'd instead go straight to the morning flight for Magic, then head to the RanLAN afterwards to play boardgames until late. Then, we'd head home rather than staying over for Sunday.

How do these changes suit you, cK?

cK: All good with me, I was attending the morning flight anyway :D See you guys there.. I've no idea how many people to expect, so I'm just bringing a wad o cash, and a big empty card box, along.. please don't roll me :/
